4th of July!

Ever since I was a kid I love 4th of July. Since I only lived in one house for my whole childhood every year the whole block would have a huge 4th of July party. So, that was all I knew as a kid. But, literally, it was huge. (As some of my fellow bloggers can attest to). It was awesome. There was food, fireworks...lawn chairs..the whole nine yards. As I got into my teenage years it became even better. This is cheesy but every year I hoped that I would hook up with someone. You know, just kiss..there is nothing more romantic than the sky all lit up. Which I don't think ever happened.. Don't laugh...Allison, Candice!
Anyhow, this year it brought back some of those great childhood memories. Since my kids are getting a little older..(i mean out of the infant stage) we decided that we were going to go over to my parents for the annual bque, swim party. (you know now the block party has just become a family party). It was fun hanging out with my family and getting to swim with my kids. Mallory and Chase love to swim.
We left around 4:30 and went home to get ready to go to the UofR to see fireworks with Scott's family. We have only been to this event one other time. We had a blast. Mallory was so cute dancing around and some of the facial expressions that the two of them would give us were priceless. I got a few in some of the pictures. Overall, this year the 4th of July was just as good as my younger years..and I even got a kiss.

Waiting for the fireworks..

Plane doing a fly by over the stadium..Chase loved it.

Mallory with her cousins and uncles.

Uncle Adam and Chase

Amazed...

She danced around the whole time..She absolutely loved it!

This was Chases expression the whole time. Mouth dropped open..Not sure what to expect.

Well, my only question is who on earth on our block were you hoping to hook up with?? Seriously though, I miss our block parties so much that I am in the middle of planning one for our new neighborhood for July 25th. Everyone on the street I have talked to so far had block parties growing up and miss them like I do. I am so excited for our kids to have the same fun we did. And, because July 24th is a holiday here, we get to do fireworks too! We are having a bbq, fireworks, and games. I can't wait!

How fun Candice. I really miss those carefree days. The only person I probably would have kissed was Joel, which I did like 6 months before he moved. Had you already been living there when he was still around? I was bummed the day he left. The 4th of july is one of my fav. days of the year. :)

I love the second to last picture of Mallory...it's so precious! Maybe we'll have to go to the UofR next year...I'm sure Beckett would have loved it!

I loved going to the Redlands fireworks. Dillon was so excited just like Mallory was and Cooper had the same look as Chase did. Must be the ages. I so wish we still had those block parties.

I love the 4th of July. I don't know why???? I still long for the block party and this year we did bbq and fireworks with our neighbors. It brought back good memories. We even had a few illegal ones we picked up on our way back from tahoe. Apparently so did most people in the surrounding neighborhoods, because our sky was lit up all night. It was awesome.

Yes, I remember Joel, and yes, that is definitely Eric's baby!! With a face like that, there's no doubt.
