Topic of Discussion

Last week Mallory asked me where the turkey she was eating came from. I explained (I am not a huge fan of any meat either..stems all the way back to childhood)...but I didn't want her to not like meat because of me.
So, the next day I was making her food and whatever she was eating she asked if it came from an animal.... milk, yogurt, bread, etc.. I explained that milk comes from a cow and she asked me if they killed the cow and I told her no. Complicated matter..
So, this morning she was watching Mickeymouse clubhouse and they were in hawaii. She said to me, we are going to hawaii and I said yes in a couple of months. She kept talking about how excited she was to go. Then she asked me what are we going to eat in hawaii. I told her fish, because the fish is good there. And, this is how the rest of the conversation went.
Mal: Mom, I don't like fish.
Me: Why?
Mal: Because you have to kill it
Me: I told her Jesus put animals on the earth for us to eat, sometimes.
Mal: Tell Jesus to stop putting animals on the earth to eat.
Mal: I don't think it's good to east lambs.
Mal: Do you eat lambs?
Me: No
Mal: Does Dad?
Me: No
Mal: Jesus needs to stop putting lambs on earth for people to eat.
Mal: Well when we are in hawaii I'll just eat peanut butter and jelly.
Me: Okay

Then, she's still talking about animals but I'm ignoring her trying to finish my hair. I put away my blow dryer and start to walk out of the bathroom. And, she says, it's okay we'll talk about it later ok.
Me: OK

Poor girl, she is never going to have a hamburger again. My kids don't seem to care that meat is animal because they have asked and then told me it tastes good. Mallory is such a cute girl.

Ya he'll still eat it. He makes comments after he asks what it is like, mom cows are yummy. haha He asks about everything though. Crackers and cereal everything. He's asked so much about his snack foods that he thinks almost everything comes from a factory somewhere. The factory is the only part of the explaination he ever remembers.
