Guess Who Got Sprayed by a Skunk!

So it's 1am and we hear Mattie making alot of noise outside. Scott gets out of bed to check on her outside and comes back to bed and tells me that it's just a cat outside that is teasing her. He then decides to go to the bathroom and check on her again because she is being loud outside. He looks out the window again and she has a skunk. So, we shut the bedroom door as quick as we can to lock Draco inside. By the time we have shut the door the skunk had sprayed and it is smelling bad. So, Scott goes down to the kitchen to get Mattie to see if she had been sprayed but she wouldn't come to him because she had killed the skunk in the grass and was playing with it. Yeah, I said playing with it. Gross! So, he finally gets her and smells her up close and sure enough she had been sprayed in the face. Side note(skunk spray smells way different from the kind of skunk spray you smell from road kill or if you drive by and smell skunk.) Skunk spray up close has a horrrible smell. It was so strong it made us both have an upset stomach. It is nasty. So, Scott gets a shovel and picks it up and now we have a house that smells horrible and a dog that we don't know what to do with. We call 24 hour emergency vet to ask them what we should do and they give us a recipe for homemade skunk shampoo. We mix it all up and go outside and give her a bath at 1am and since her hair is long we have to blow dry her too. I was out there blow drying her for 20 mins. Our neighbors must have been like what is all of that noise over there. Side note again..(to top off that everything smelled so bad before the skunk had sprayed all of our windows were opened because there was such a nice breeze so the smell is potent in our house).. We get done with Mattie. Stick her in the garage..by the way she has never slept outside. She smelled so bad I almost didn't care the she was outside. So, the next morning we call the dog groomer and take her to get a special bath for skunk spray and this is how she came out when I went to pick her up. Mallory and I were laughing so hard. What a cutie!
